Christmas 2011
In the crib, Lord Jesus, you are divinely human,
wanting me, like Mary, to take you in my arms and hold you, needing my intimocy and the warmth of my body to embrace you, needing the very milk of my own making, the fruit of my body, needing me to mother you. Mother you, yes, even letting you be incorporated into me, letting my body and spirit create you, form you, and birth you once again into this wild, cold, forbidding world, needing me to mother you. And all the while you are humanly divine and mother me. You carry me on your shoulders. cuddle me on your lap, comfort me and nurse me as a mother nurses her child (Isaioh 66:12-13). And all the while you abide within me and call me to mother the you within and the you within each other, Christmas 2011 |
