Gathering in Laski 6.12.2008

I am just back from a gathering in Warsaw of Little Sisters mainly from the different countries of Eastern Europe, that until recently have been under communist regimes.

The aim of our meeting was to deepen our religious life by reconnecting with the writings of the Fathers of the Church and the long tradition of the Church through the centuries.

Representatives from the different Communities of the Little sisters in Poland were present and it was a wonderful opportunity for me to hear more about what each Community is living.

I was struck by the many 'faces' of Poland, by the diversity of people and their histories and the wealth of culture and how the Little sisters have really become a part of their local community through a simple sharing of life.

I must add how I was moved by the warmth and welcome everywhere in Poland and how although life has changed for the better, it is still hard for many.
