The Little sisters of Jesus in the Cameroons.The history of a friendship with the Bagyeli

This is the story of the arrival of the Little sisters in Bipindi in 1952 and of their friendship with the Bagyeli people of the forest to this day.

Having the true needs of their friends at heart after 46 years the Little sisters left Bipindi for Kribi and now Ngovayang.

When the Bagyeli went to Douala in 1985 to welcome Pope John Paul II they sang this wonderful song:

‘If the Bagyeli have heard the Word of God they cannot move backwards but only forwards and so have a wonderful place at God's side.’  read more »

Little Sisters Liliane and Marie-Raymonde closed their community in Marseille, France, last February after many years of presence to the women in the port city's world of prostitution. They both now live in a retirement house in Aix-en-Provence.

'The Little Sisters will be immersed in the midst of those the world condemns and despises (prostitutes, drug addicts, prisoners...), seeking to love them with the respectful tenderness of God.'(Constitutions art. 56)

It was in that spirit that, in 1955, two little sisters founded a community in Marseille as a first step toward the world of prostitution. Later, others began similar communities in Belgium, Italy, Japan, Korea, Germany, and Paris.  read more »
