7th Station, Jesus falls the second time.

Jesus must go on but the struggle between his physical frailty and the strength of his great love becomes more and more acute. He must go on to the end of the road. The sacrifice accepted in the Garden of Olives cannot be consumated all at once; the chalice has to be drained to the end.

Such falls, falls of weakness, falls of wearyness, falls of mere habit, are many in our lives, Lord. May they be but halts, steps on the road towards you. We may more often be on our hands and knees rather than walking erect, but our weaknesses because of Yours can become strength and life. Nothing can cut us off from your love, the source of life surging within us now and for eternity.
