Jesus Caritas

What I am dreaming of is something very simple and small in numbers, something to resemble those simple communities of the Church’s early days. To lead the life of Nazareth, working humbly and contemplating Jesus, a little family, a little monastic household, something very small and simple.

Only one thing is necessary, to love Jesus, to follow in his footsteps, hand in hand with him, to live his life, to think his thoughts, to speak his words, to continue his action.

It is love that should recollect you in me interiorly and not being far from my children. See me in them, like me at Nazareth live close to them, lost in God.

God, if you exist, let me know you.

If I were able, but I am not, to do otherwise than to loose myself totally in union with God’s divine will, I would want to choose for myself complete lack of success and perpetual solitude and failure in everything. This is the path of union with the lowliness and the cross of our Beloved God, which has always seemed to me desirable above all other ways.

There most be no economising on good books. If people consecrated to God, monks... feel the need right to the end of their lives, to read and reread the works of guides to the spiritual life and the lives of the saints who have gone before them, how much more must they need it who live in the world, in the midst of so many distracting occupations?

Let us stay with Him in the humble house of Nazareth, working people who live by exercising a humble trade, poor and lowly people who live disregarded, obscure, hidden and prayerful in the solitude and seclusion, the silence, forgotteness and communion with God, that poverty helps us so much to obtain.

What is this peace, different from that which the world gives? This peace is the one your love gives ... a peace greater than suffering, not a peace without war, but a peace in spite of war, during war, above war, the peace of the soul, having, through love, its whole life in heaven and thus enjoying the peace of heaven in spite of everything which may happen on earth around it and against it.
