Jesus Caritas

The constructions are called khaoua, or brotherhood, for khaouia Carlo means universal brother. Pray God that I may really be a brother to all the souls of this country. I have had a most affectionate reception from the military of all ranks, and the people, too have received me perfectly. I make as many contacts as I can with them.

Have that tender care that expresses itself in the little things that are like a balm for the heart... With our neighbours go into the smallest details, whether it is a question of health, of consolation, of prayerfulness, or of need. Console and ease the pain of others through the tiniest of attentions. Be as tender and attentive towards those whom God puts on our path, as a brother towards brother or as a mother for her child. As much as possible be an element of consolation for those around us, as soothing balm, as our Lord was towards all those who drew near to him.

I cannot say that I desire death. I used to desire it, but now I see so much good to be done, so many souls without a shepherd, that what I most want is to do a little good and work a little for the salvation of those poor souls. Still, God loves them far more than I do and doesn't need me. May his will be done. There s nothing really wrong with me, but the summer wears me down. I get feverish spells sometimes, headaches, sleepless nights. Nothing that lasts and nothing severe. It will go away when the hot weather does, in five weeks. I'm leading my usual life, but getting less work done.

See Jesus in every human person. Live for others more than for myself.

Loving God, loving people, is my whole life; May it always be my whole life, this is what I hope for.

Imitation is inseparable from love: it’s the secret of my life. I've lost my heart to this Jesus of Nazareth, crucified 1900 years ago, and I have spent my life trying to imitate him as best as my weakness allows.

Jesus wills that I work for the foundation of this twofold family. How? By prayer, by sacrifice, by death, by growing in holiness: basically, by loving him.

Loving me has to do with wanting to love, not with feeling that one loves.

When we love, we are so small, so humble before the one we love. We feel so mean and so poor finding the one we love so perfect and so beautiful.

I love Our Lord and cannot bear to lead a life other than the one he led. I cannot conceive of love that does not include a need, a compelling need, of resembling him and moulding my life on his.
