My Lord Jesus, how quickly someone will become poor who, loving you with all their heart, cannot accept to be richer than their Beloved. How quickly they will become poor who accepts with faith your words: If you wish to be perfect, go and sell all you own and give the money to the poor. Blessed are the poor.

Those who love can do anything. They can do all kinds of things that those who do not love exhaust themselves trying to do in vain.

The weakness of human means is a source of strength. Jesus is the Master of the Impossible.

It pleased God to make it easy for us to be saved. He didn't attach salvation to knowledge or intelligence or wealth, nor to long experience or rare gifts that are not given to all. He attached it to something within the reach of everyone, absolutely everyone. Jesus attaches salvation to humility, to the act of making yourself little. That is all it takes to win heaven.

Jesus says to those who share his hidden life, make others holy by bringing me among them. Bring them the Gospel not by your words but by your example, not by proclaiming it but by living it. Make the salvation of all the one work of your life until Jesus Saviour, which signifies perfectly what I am, expressed perfectly what you are too. How to do that? Be all things to all people with a single desire at heart, to give them Jesus.

As soon as I believed that there was a God, I understood that there was nothing else I could do but to live totally for him. My religious vocation dates from the same hour as my faith.

To be rich and live in comfort among my possessions when you were poor, deprived, living in misery and burdened by heavy labour - I could not do it, O God, I could not love like that.

There most be no economising on good books. If people consecrated to God, monks... feel the need right to the end of their lives, to read and reread the works of guides to the spiritual life and the lives of the saints who have gone before them, how much more must they need it who live in the world, in the midst of so many distracting occupations?

They will take for their rule to ask themselves in everything, what JESUS would think or say or do at their place, and then do it.

They will strive continually to become more and more like our Lord Jesus, taking for their model His life at Nazareth, which provides examples for all callings.
