Jesus Caritas

When we love, we are so small, so humble before the one we love. We feel so mean and so poor finding the one we love so perfect and so beautiful.

By becoming such a small and gentle child, he cries out to us: Have trust, come close to me! Do not be afraid of me, do not fear.

I was thirsting to lead at last the life I have been searching for these seven years, the life I glimpsed and guessed at when I walked the streets of Nazareth where Our Lords feet had trod, he the poor craftsman unnoticed in his lowliness and obscurity.

What I am dreaming of is something very simple and small in numbers, something to resemble those simple communities of the Church’s early days. To lead the life of Nazareth, working humbly and contemplating Jesus, a little family, a little monastic household, something very small and simple.

Set up home as Jesus of Nazareth, obscurely, poorly, humbly with hard work. Imitate as closely as possible the humble and hidden existence of the Divine Worker of Nazareth, living solely from the work of your hands.

I love Our Lord and cannot bear to lead a life other than the one he led. I cannot conceive of love that does not include a need, a compelling need, of resembling him and moulding my life on his.

Our love can be measured by how closely we imitate the one we love.

Only one thing is necessary, to love Jesus, to follow in his footsteps, hand in hand with him, to live his life, to think his thoughts, to speak his words, to continue his action.

When he came on earth, God so completely took the lowest place, that no one has ever been able to take it from Him.

The Incarnation has its source in the goodness of God, but the most wonderful of all, is the infinite humility that this mystery contains.
